Fighting in hockey is dated and stupid for many reasons, but this doesn’t even fall into that category. This wasn’t two people agreeing to take part in a pointless endeavor. This was Domi acting like a child doing something that shouldn’t be part of the sport, even if you’re a pro-fighting Neanderthal.

Which is why they should allow someone to take Domi apart on the ice without fear of making his team shorthanded.

IMO.

Maybe ekblad should have stopped after cross check #3 instead of 6 in front of the net.

Fighting will always have a place in hockey. Never leave yourself vulnerable when someone has engaged you in a fight.

I am one of those pro fighting "neanderthals" as you so kindly referred to a small chunk of your readers, not sure why you decided to make this about insulting your readers based on a particular opinion, but you managed to likely alienate any of your readers that dare have a different opinion than you do, so congrats on that, good job buddy, you really earned your pay cheque today. I am in no way defending what Domi did, it was deplorable and definitely needs to be met with punishment from the league, but the reason guys like Max Domi exist is because the league has outright protected them with the instigator rule. Outside the short suspension that he would get regardless of the instigator rule being there or not, if he knew he had to answer to someone much bigger and stronger than him who actually wanted to fight, he would think twice, because as it stands there is no immediate reprecussions that wouldnt be there in the absence of the instigator rule. That said, being so unprofessionally insulted based on my opinion has changed my opinion of hockeybuzz, and I cant say i will for sure be back, and if i am, this is certainly the last time i waste my time reading anything from this author.

They don't show what happened before this, is that what happened? Cross checks in front of the net? I franking hate those cheap ones to the small of the back...if that's what Ekblad was doing then I can understand Domi's response.

I like Ekblaaaaaahhh but Domi is the man!

Watch what happened, he thought Ekblaaaaah was gonna sneak a punch in so Domi wanted to get first shot, it wasnt like Im gonna cheap shot you. He anticipated the hit and wanted to beat Ekblaaaaaah to it. No big deal folks.

No need to go on twitter and complain and demand an apology.

Why? people can't be against fighting and write for a hockey page? What kind of logic is that?

Oh, nevermind, just saw you said "cindy and gina". You are 12. Proceed with your babyrage.

I used to like fighting in hockey, now only in a few circumstances. Staged fights between two goons are pointless. What I still like are the in the moment, passion fights. Hey Ekbald, you don't want to get punched in the face then don't cross check people from behind multiple times. If you wanna do that then you better follow it up. Domi didn't take a number or tell some slug to get even for him. He straight up handled it himself right then and right there, to larger person mind you. Its not his fault Ekbald took some liberties and then tried to play princess. This IS how fighting protects players. Ekbald may be less inclined to illegally cross check players from behind in the future. As far as him potentially getting hurt here....he started it.

Where are these cross checks i've heard mentioned a few times?

Ive looked at the replay, but all I saw was a light tap in the corner from Ekblad.

100% !

If players police themselves its a safer game.

Notice when dogs are on leashes they are more aggressive. Off leash they are much better. The refs have these players on tight leashes and breeds the Marchands of the world.

Agreed. While I’m one who enjoys a good bout now and then instead, I understand that today’s game is leaning more and more to skill and speed. One can still hit clean, check hard, and not be a (frank)ing moron.

Ryan’s views aren’t because he writes for the Pens, don’t know where that stupid logic game from as most people still throw out “Deeeeerrrpppp!! Matt Coooke!!!!11” at most Pens fans.

People like that chode make me remember why there are still skeptics as to humankind making it in the long run.

There was none... Domi was trying to make an impression with the team and his old man in the stands....
He pulled a Domi...

I dunno. That was a funny response. I just imagine him roaring that while bugged eyed and drooling.
